NEW YEAR’S EVE:

In the Basque Country, we usually celebrate the New Year’s eve having a big dinner in family. The typical food for this day is, ham, seafood, salad, meat or fish, and an extremely sweet dessert that is known as “Turrón”. After the dinner , at midnight, each person has to eat twelve
grapes at the last twelve seconds of the year . Finally, we wish a Happy New year to each other . After the celebration in family, teenagers usually wear nice clothes and go out with their friends to celebrate it until the next morning.
Children who are not aloud to go out yet, the often have a good time playing with the fireworks in family.

NEW YEAR’S DAY
This day we always

have a special lunch with the family again and we also eat delicious food.

This is what we typically eat at twelve o´clock.

GETTING TO KNOW ME:

Hey !!!!

My name is Miren ( which is a Basque name, in English it is Mery) and I am a 16 year old girl who goes to a secondary school which is near my neighbourhood, Antigua Luberri. At the moment, I am going to the first year of the upper secondary level.

I live with my sister Eli and my parents. My sister is 12 years old and I usually get on really well with her.

I like going out with my friends, we usually hang around our neighbourhood, but when we go out at night we usually go to the Old Quarter ( there are lots of bars over there).

One of the things I hate most is having exams in school. And I should say that I’m afraid of dogs. Furthermore, if I had to choose one of the things I give more importance in my life it would be friendship.

Best wishes

Miren Arbulu
